Travel rest stops bring new adventures

Meet & greet for Albert and Shelby the gentle giant Great Dane

Today's 5+ hour drive was exhausting but we were delighted to meet Shelby the Great Dane at a rest area along the way. As we pulled away from Potato Creek a wild turkey danced along the side of the road as if he was the only one in the park!

We arrived at Countryside Campground which is like a little village with many full time residents. They were welcoming and invited us to their chili cook off where many attended. Kids were running around with much laughter and we had great conversation about life here in Ohio. Some of the residents have homes in the area where they live during the cold winter months.

Today 9/13 we visited the Dussel Farm and found wonderful vegetables like, corn, tomatoes, peppers, squash, green beans, potatoes, apples and fresh farm eggs! Oh, and one garlic as well.

On the way back to the camper we stopped at Franks for a little soft serve ice cream. From there we briefly visited the Oktoberfest at the town park. People were participating in dances like the Spitzen Schuhplsttler dance.
