Totoket campground

As we departed Newport, established 1639, we saw a beautiful hotel out on the point as we drove across a tall bridge. An interesting light house sat out in the harbor with a small boat moored beside it. As we crossed the bridge to Jamestown we saw another windmill in the distance. Such a beautiful place!
There are stacked stone walls in CT like we found in RI around many properties and the yards are well tended to with pretty gardens. We passed signs for the Gilbert Stuart Museum, Richmond established 1747, the town of Groton, Ft. Griswald Battlefield, and Thimble Lakes. We passed over the Connecticut River too.
Check in at the Totoket campground was easy and our neighbors, a young couple originally from FL, have a new Brinkley. They like it a lot. They are here for work reasons as are several others staying in this campground.
We enjoyed a delightful dinner with Ruth Spears, one of my first cousins at Giovanni's Pizzeria & Ristorante. The last time we were together was 1974 in Cheshire, CT! She and Kevin enjoyed conversation about family and culture. Spending time with family and friends is a big bonus while traveling around the country.

The far Northeast is one of the few places I have not been in this country and it is a pleasure to join in your experiences.

Hey Linda did not know you went to the Washington Crossing Inn. It’s a great place and when Marc’s stepson / wife and kids were here we took them there for lunch too.
was nice you went to the visitor’s center and saw where GW crossed the Delaware River. Every year they have a re-enactment of the Crossing the day after Christmas. Hundreds of people attend. Was great seeing you at Jim and Mary’s house :). love cousin Beth
